City of Jamestown Home Improvement Grant Programs

Jamestown City Council received $1,144,750.00 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds and $397,507.00 in HOME program funds for Community Planning and Development activities for FY 2022. These funds will help low and moderate-income residents living here. The federal government’s support for community development block grants declined by about $50,000.00 while the HOME program saw an increase of about $60,000.00 instead.

Jamestown residents can use some of the available programs such as the Residential Homesteading Program, the Emergency Repair Program, and the Target and Non-Target Area Incentive Programs. 

One of the City of Jamestown Home Improvement Grant Programs is the Residential Homesteading Program offers qualified first-time homeowners 100% incentives up to $25,000.00 per unit. The Emergency Repair Program offers 100% grants to low- and moderate-income senior adults (62 years of age and older) and owner-occupants who are one-person households for urgent home repairs. And the Target and Non-Target Area Incentive Programs include programs in different targeted areas such as Winsor, Falconer, Chadakoin, Downtown, Chandler/Appleyard rehabilitation programs, as well as non-targeted like the  Citywide Rental Rehabilitation Program and the Citywide Owner-Occupied Rehabilitation Program
Applications for the Senior Citizen Home Improvement Incentive (SCHII) grant program were also open starting, on July 15, and ending on Monday, August 15th, the City of Jamestown’s City Assessor’s office has announced. This program provides financial aid up to $10,000.00 to senior citizens with their necessary home repairs that will bring their homes up to proper housing standards as defined by the current New York State and City of Jamestown Building Code.
