Enhanced Financial Support for Sullivan Businesses and Homeowners from Small Business Association

In the wake of President Biden’s official disaster declaration for several counties in Indiana that have been hit by a severe tornado, the U.S. Small Business Association (SBA) has stepped forward to offer additional disaster assistance. The organization aims to aid those affected by the storm through recovery relief funds.

On Saturday, the SBA established a physical presence at the Sullivan City Hall to more directly interact with those in need. The initiative’s objective is to extend support and provide essential recovery relief funds to help residents and businesses recuperate from the storm’s devastating impact.

Local businesses and nonprofit organizations stand to benefit from these funds through economic injury disaster loans. However, the SBA has been clear in its message that its assistance is not limited to these entities alone. They are committed to extending help to everyone affected by the disaster.

Stephen Clark, a public affairs specialist with the SBA, provided further clarity about who might be eligible for assistance and for what kind of damages. “If your real estate was damaged or if your personal property was damaged, like your furniture or appliances, or if you had a motor vehicle—which would be considered your personal property—that was damaged, that would be something that you could get a low-interest SBA loan for to cover uncompensated losses,” Clark explained.

To ensure accessibility and convenience for those seeking help, the SBA has announced regular operating hours for their location at the Sullivan City Hall. Beginning on April 24, the organization will be open Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. They will also maintain office hours on Saturdays, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This measure provides ample opportunity for affected residents and business owners to receive the assistance they need during this difficult recovery period.
