Extended Deadline: Apply for FEMA, SBA Aid Until Nov. 9!

They now have until Thursday, Nov. 9, to secure federal disaster assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Furthermore, during this period, they can also submit their applications to the US Small Business Administration for a potential disaster loan.

They expressed, “In these challenging times, as we grapple with the devastation and mourn the heart-wrenching loss of life on Maui, it’s paramount that our Maui community receives the comprehensive federal aid and respite it rightly deserves.” They went on to emphasize the significance of the extended deadline, noting, “This added window alleviates the burden of rushing through the loan application process, offering businesses, nonprofits, homeowners, and renters – all impacted by this catastrophe – ample time to gather their bearings and apply. We’re grateful to the SBA for recognizing our appeal, and our collective efforts will remain focused on ensuring that Maui secures the requisite federal resources to facilitate a robust recovery and reconstruction.”

Survivors are first advised to lodge insurance claims, detailing any damages to their homes, personal possessions, and vehicles. Once this is done, they can then turn to FEMA for assistance.
