Georgia Secures Federal Funds to Enhance Broadband Infrastructure
U.S. Senators Reverend Raphael Warnock (D-GA) and Jon Ossoff (D-GA) have exciting news for communities in northwest Georgia. They have announced a significant grant of $12.2 million that aims to provide these communities with high-speed and low-cost internet access. This will be made possible through the construction of a 185-mile fiber route spanning eight counties, connecting Chattanooga, Tennessee, Bremen, Georgia, and Atlanta, Georgia.
The grant has been awarded as part of the National Telecommunications and Information Administration’s (NTIA) Enabling Middle Mile Broadband Infrastructure Grant Program. This program, funded by the bipartisan Infrastructure Law, has a budget of $1 billion dedicated to the construction and improvement of broadband infrastructure.
