Housing Ministry’s Gift of Home Improvement Grants for 100 During Christmas
As the holiday season approaches, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development is bringing the spirit of Christmas to approximately 100 individuals through its Home Improvement Grant (HIG) Programme. These grants aim to make the festive season brighter for those in need by providing financial assistance for home improvements.
A special ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at 11:00 am at the Pleasantville Community Centre on Prince Albert Street in San Fernando, where the grant cheques will be officially distributed to the recipients.
The Home Improvement Grant Programme, administered by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, is designed to support qualified citizens in enhancing their living conditions by facilitating repairs and improvements to their homes.
This initiative primarily targets households with low and lower-middle incomes, ensuring that those who may face financial challenges have the opportunity to make necessary improvements to their dwellings. The grants are valued at $15,000 each, providing substantial assistance to eligible individuals and families.
The event will feature key figures from the Ministry, with Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Camille Robinson-Regis MP, delivering the Feature Address and personally handing out grants to the beneficiaries of the HIG Programme. Adrian Leonce MP, Minister in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, and His Worship Councillor Robert Parris, Mayor of San Fernando, will also be present to deliver remarks and support this meaningful initiative.
By offering these Home Improvement Grants during the holiday season, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development aims to bring comfort and joy to deserving families, ensuring that they can enjoy the festivities in improved living conditions. This initiative not only demonstrates the government’s commitment to addressing housing needs but also spreads the warmth and goodwill of the holiday season to those who need it most.
