West Virginia Initiative Provides Monetary Help for Homeowners
To highlight the importance of stable housing, the West Virginia, Parkersburg Housing Development Fund has announced that April will be observed as Housing Stability Awareness Month.
This announcement coincides with increased efforts to spread awareness about the West Virginia Homeowners Rescue Program. The program has been designed with the primary goal of helping homeowners maintain housing stability, especially during the ongoing challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Jessica Greathouse from the West Virginia Housing Development Fund emphasized the significance of housing stability, stating, “Housing stability affects pretty much every part of your life. If you don’t have a stable roof over your head or an address to call your own, it’s hard to do just about anything…”
The West Virginia Homeowners Rescue Program offers substantial financial assistance to homeowners in need. “The program offers up to $28,000 of assistance to people who own their homes in the state, live in them as primary residents, meet certain eligibility requirements for income, delinquencies, and so on, and they can get help for any financial impact they’ve had from the pandemic,” explained Greathouse.
The aid provided by the program is not limited to mortgage payments. It extends to other necessary expenses such as utility bills and insurance premiums. The ultimate goal is to provide homeowners with a safety net and ease the financial burden imposed by the pandemic.
Moreover, the West Virginia Housing Development Fund has also initiated partnerships with housing counseling agencies. These partnerships aim to assist people in regaining financial stability by providing advice and guidance. “Whether it be to help work with their bank to figure out the best path forward for their mortgage that they’ve fallen behind in or to help them establish a budget in order to get their financial lives moving forward so they have housing stability in the future,” added Greathouse.
Homeowners interested in availing of the benefits offered by the West Virginia Homeowners Rescue Program can visit wvhomerescue.com to fill out an application and check the eligibility requirements. For those who prefer a paper application, a call can be made at 844-542-0035.
