Should You Expect a Stimulus Check This Month?
Millions of Americans should expect a stimulus check provided by their states this month to help them fight inflation and increased prices. Two of them are providing them this month: Maine and New Mexico.
Maine residents who have submitted their 2021 state tax returns should receive a direct payment of $850. Eligible single filers are those with an adjusted gross income of less than $100,000.00 and married with of up to $200,000.00. According to projections, these checks might assist approximately 858,000 people. For more details, go to the State’s official website.
If they file their income taxes by May 31 and meet all other requirements, residents of New Mexico will also be qualified for equivalent tax rebates. They will contribute $250.00 for lone taxpayers and $500.00 for joint filers. The income threshold is $75,000.00 for single filers, $150,000.00 for heads of households, and $150,000.00 for married couples filing jointly. These rebates will be automatically given out in June and August of 2022 without the need for applications. The same law that authorized the rebates also set aside $20 million for grants of economic aid to New Mexicans who do not file state income taxes due to their income levels. But, all US citizens are entitled to some sort of assistance even if their State is not giving a stimulus check. With funds from the American Rescue plan of 2021, over 40 states have created their own Homeowner Assistance Fund program (HAF).
