The City of Berkeley adopted an energy code requiring certain energy conservation measures to be installed in residential and commercial properties upon the sale or major renovation of the property. Commercial properties being sold or renovated must install a variety of energy conservation measures for heating ventilation air conditioning (HVAC) equipment, water systems, lighting, commercial refrigeration equipment, motor-driven equipment and the building envelope.
