In September 2006 the City of Cincinnati began requiring that all new municipal buildings be constructed to LEED* standards, and that all renovations of existing city buildings incorporate LEED principles whevever possible. In the same legislation, the City Council also directed the administration to assess the feasibility of paying for any increased construction or renovation costs out of the operational cost savings resulting from increased efficiency, beginning with the possible renovation of City Hall.
