The City of Aurora has allocated funds from its Department of Energy (DOE) Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) award for residential and commercial solar domestic water heaters. This rebate program is available to Aurora property owners who install solar water heater systems using new equipment. System expansions are ineligible. Systems must be a minimum of 23,000 BTU/day with a 40 gallon storage tank. All collectors must be SRCC OG-100 rated. Participants must first receive a blower door energy audit (for residential buildings) or an energy assessment (for commercial properties) from Xcel Energy.
Eligible building owners will receive a rebate that covers the entire cost of the Xcel energy audit plus the cost of system materials up to $3,000 for residential or $15,000 for commercial buildings.
Rebates are offered on a first-come first-served basis until September 2011 or until funds are exhausted.
