Descripción
In June, 2001, the San José City Council unanimously adopted the Green Building Policies as developed by the members of the community and various City Departments. Council’s approval of the Green Building Guidelines means all new construction and major retrofit projects of City of San José facilities and buildings over 10,000 gross square feet of occupied space shall earn a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver rating at a minimum, with a goal of earning Gold or Platinum certification.
The City of San Jose provides leadership and guidance to encourage the application of green building practices in private sector planning, design, construction, management, renovation, operations, and demolition of buildings. They accomplish this by promoting the voluntary application of the San Jose Green Building Policy goals and the "San Jose LEED" Green Building Rating System.
