Note: This program will be suspended on December 31, 2014 following the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio approval of FirstEnergy Ohio's proposal to suspend the vast majority of its energy efficiency programs.
Ohio subsidiaries of FirstEnergy (Ohio Edison, The Illuminating Company, Toledo Edison) offer rebates for builders of new, energy efficient homes. Each newly built home is eligible for a rebate of $400, plus $0.10/kWh saved annually over the reference home, as calculated by REM/Rate. The maximum amount per home is $1,200 and all construction and installation requirements must be met. Qualifying homes will be Energy Star Certified, be 15% more efficient than current code, and be located within the service areas of one of the FirstEnergy Utilities, Toledo Edison, Ohio Edison, and The Illuminating Company. For more information, contact your FirstEnergy utility or Performance Systems Development, the program administrator. Builders can view the program web site for more details on this offering.
