The King County Department of Development and Environmental Services offers priority processing and free project management to builders and developers who build green buildings in unincorporated King County. Incentives vary with project type and size.

• Built Green* 5-star single family homes < 1,500 square feet: 8 hours of free project management and priority processing
• Built Green 5-star single family home < 5,000 square feet: 5 hours of free project management and priority processing
• Built Green 5-star multi-family project: 15 hours of free project management and priority processing
• Built Green 4-star single-family home <5,000 square feet: 3 hours free project management and priority processing

In addition, all green building and low impact development projects receive free technical consulting related to the green building and low impact development components of their projects. Low impact development is an approach to land development that focuses on water storage and transport on and off the site, as well as the minimization of impervious surfaces, protection of native vegetation and soils, and proper management of stormwater.

*Built Green is an environmentally-friendly, non-profit, residential building program of the Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties, developed in partnership with King County, Snohomish County, and other agencies in Washington State. Certification under Built Green requires achievements in energy efficiency, indoor air quality, the conservation of natural resources and water quality.
