The Ohio Office of Energy Efficiency is offering grants to cover a portion of the costs of eligible distributed energy resources (DER) projects located in the service territories of the state’s five investor-owned electric distribution companies — American Electric Power (Columbus and Southern Power and Ohio Power); CINergy(Cincinnati Gas and Electric); Dayton Power and Light; First Energy (Cleveland Electric Illuminating, Ohio
Edison, Toledo Edison); and Monongahela Power (Allegheny Power). This round of grants, supported by the Ohio Energy Loan Fund, is available only to end-users of DER projects that include but are not limited to industrial heat recover, combined heat and power, landfill or biomass methane for electric generation, solar-electric and wind.

Applicants from the commercial, industrial, institutional and local-government sectors are eligible for project funding. The maximum grant amount is $50,000 or 50% of the project cost, whichever is less. Cost share is required for all projects; the percentage of cost share depends on the technology type. A total of $826,000 in funding is available. All projects must be installed in Ohio, and all project components must be new. Projects must be completed by September 30, 2006.

Proposals must be submitted by 3:00 p.m. on January 31, 2005. Previous recipients of the ELF grant program are not eligible. Awards will be announced March 31, 2005. For more information, see the Request for Proposals (RFP).
