South Central Arkansas Electric Cooperative was founded in 1940 and serves about 10,000 customers in an eight county region of south-central Arkansas. To encourage energy efficiency, South Central Arkansas offers a Energy Resource Conservation (ERC) loan program to residents and businesses.
The ERC Loan Program will provide loan funds to finance the purchase and installation of heat pumps, duct-work, storm doors and windows and other energy efficiency improvements. Up to $5000 is available for the purchase of an air-to-air heat pump and up to $9000 is available for the purchase of a water source heat pump. Loans of up to these amounts are available at a 5% interest rate; amounts greater than this will be loaned at a seven-year fixed rate of 2.5% above the Federal Discount Rate.
Heat pumps that qualify for this loan should have a SEER rating of at least 11.0 and an HSPF of 7.0. Any contractor located in the state of Arkansas can install the energy efficiency measures. To apply for this loan, contact South Central Arkansas to begin the process. No work should begin on these energy efficiency measures before the loan is approved.
