Xcel Energy offers an incentive program to the distributors of air conditioning units. For every efficient air conditioning unit under 20 tons that is sold to a customer, the distributor will receive an incentive, dependent on the size and efficiency of the system. To receive the incentives, the customer that a system is sold to should be an Xcel Energy customer. Distributors apply for the program at the Xcel Energy website; after approval, they can begin selling high efficiency air conditioners for incentives.
