Winter Storm Damage Relief: $40K Grants Available to Rural Homeowners

San Diego Grants

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has announced a significant initiative to support rural homeowners who were affected by winter storms. The Rural Disaster Home Repair Grant is offering up to $40,675 per homeowner for those eligible, allowing them to repair storm damage incurred between December 27, 2022, and January 31, 2023. The initiative, presented by San Diego County, California is a lifeline for those needing assistance with property repairs.

This nationwide scheme has earmarked $55.7 million for the Rural Disaster Home Repair Grant. However, given the significant winter damage and high demand, the funds are anticipated to be depleted quickly. As such, eligible homeowners are urged to apply as early as possible to benefit from this support.

To verify eligibility, homeowners are required to consult the Property Eligibility Map. This tool helps to ascertain whether their property lies within the specified zones eligible for the grant. After reading the property eligibility disclaimer, homeowners can proceed by clicking “accept”.
