North Alabama Nonprofits Secure Grants for Energy Cost Savings
Alabama – Governor Kay Ivey has allocated substantial grants to aid nonprofits, schools, and local governments in minimizing their energy expenditures. The State Energy Program is designed to assist eligible entities in reducing energy costs by implementing energy-efficient enhancements in their facilities and operations. These grants, with a total value exceeding $2 million, will enable the replacement of outdated equipment such as heating, cooling, and lighting systems.
Governor Ivey emphasized the financial wisdom of conserving funds through the adoption of more energy-efficient heating, cooling, and lighting systems. She commended the schools, local governments, and other organizations for their commitment to investing in modern equipment and practices that ensure responsible expenditure.
The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA) is overseeing the administration of these grants, funded by the U.S. Department of Energy. ADECA manages a diverse range of programs, supporting areas such as law enforcement, victim programs, economic development, and recreation, among others.
ADECA Director Kenneth Boswell praised the organizations and groups that have chosen to invest in energy-efficient upgrades, recognizing these decisions as wise and forward-thinking. He also expressed ADECA’s pleasure in collaborating with Governor Ivey to assist these entities in their efforts to reduce costs.
Numerous organizations and groups in North Alabama are among the beneficiaries of grants distributed by ADECA, contributing to the state’s ongoing commitment to energy efficiency.
