Description
In April of 2003, the Science, Technology and Energy (STE) Division of the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs established the Agriculture Energy Efficiency Program to assist the agriculture industry in reducing energy costs and increasing production by providing education and financial assistance for energy efficiency and renewable energy projects.
State and local government entities, non-profits and college and universities are eligible for funding for projects that must support actual demonstration of technologies that are commercially available, not for research and development. In addition, projects must have a strong outreach component; applicants must explain how they intend to reach the target audience and potential benefit to Alabama producers should be addressed.
The most recent request for proposals for grant funding closed June 15, 2005. It is anticipated that this RFP will be released again in 2007.
