Description
Rhode Island does not have formal statewide uniform interconnection standards for net-metered systems or for larger distributed-generation systems that are not net metered. However, Narragansett Electric, an investor-owned utility that serves 99% of the state’s mainland customers, has developed a streamlined, one-page interconnection application and agreement form for net-metered energy systems. Narragansett Electric uses the same one-page agreement available to Massachusetts Electric customers; both utilities are subsidiaries of National Grid. Additional insurance and an external disconnect switch are not required.
