Description
In February 2007, the City of Evanston signed a 17-month contract to purchase renewable-energy credits (RECs) from Constellation Energy for 5.5 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity. The RECs purchased are derived from electricity generated by wind turbines. The city has issued a Climate Change Action Plan to chart a path towards reducing its greenhouse gas emissions by 7% from 1990 levels by the year 2012.
