Description
The City of New Smyrna Beach Utilities Commission is helping residential customers become owners of rooftop PV systems through a buydown incentive. The utility pays one-third of the cost of the system; the Florida Solar Energy Center (FSEC) pays one-third; and the homeowner pays one-third. Installation is free. At the current system cost, participants pay approximately $0.75/watt. New installations will depend on new state-funded rebate programs. The systems are owned by the customer, and the energy produced is net metered back to the utility. The utility offers 2.4-kW and 1.2-kW packages.
