Description
The Assisted Multi-Family Program (AMP) is a grant program implemented by Hamilton, Rabinovitz & Alschuler, Inc. (HR&A) on behalf of NYSERDA. The intent of the AMP is to lower the energy bills of low- and middle-income families whose income is 80% or less of the state’s median income through energy audits, financial information, and “gap funding†when other sources do not fully meet the needs of the project.
To apply, the owner of the multifamily residence must submit the application to HR&A with all of the required documentation. A mandatory energy audit will then take place with the maintanence staff of the building. HR&A will work with the owner to find funding to cover the costs of the improvements, from loans and rebates from NYSERDA and manufacturers, and NYSERDA “gap funding.†Finally, HR&A will provide performance and direct oversight from NYSERDA during the project, and technical assistance for 3 years following the project.
As the 80% median income cut-off may be hard to gauge for a multifamily residence, a number of eligibility measures are listed on the application. Only customers of Con Ed, Niagara Mohawk, Orange and Rockland, Central Hudson, NY Gas and Electric, and Rochester Gas and Electric are eligible to apply for the AMP program.
