Description
The Massachusetts Clean Energy Center offers grants to commercial entities installing eligible biomass heating systems.
Project sites must be located in a utility territory that contributes to the Renewable Energy Trust Fund (National Grid, Eversource, Unitil, and municipal light plants that have agreed to pay into the fund).
The base grant is 35% of eligible project costs, up to $175,000. Adders are available for thermal storage (5% of total costs, up to $25,000), cascading systems (2.5% of total costs, up to $12,500), and distribution system efficiency (2.5% of total costs, up to $12,500). An adder is also available for public, non-profit, and affordable housing projects (5% of total costs, up to $25,000). The total maximum grant is 50% of total eligible project costs, up to $250,000.
