This substantial grant is earmarked to restore affordable housing in the Bedford Dwellings and strategically invest in creating a neighborhood that boasts excellent connectivity to public transportation, fostering accessibility and convenience for residents.
“Housing is more than just a roof over your head; it’s the place where safety, well-being, and community start. As the foundation of a neighborhood, housing determines whether businesses can thrive, the potential of future economic development, and the sense of community residents feel,” emphasized Senator Casey.
Senator Casey also praised the dedication and perseverance of community leaders in the Hill District, who have tirelessly worked to envision a reimagined Bedford Dwellings—a neighborhood anchor that fosters vibrant and safe living environments, where residents can live, work, and play seamlessly.

Senator Fetterman’s strong advocacy for affordable housing emphasizes the critical importance of providing accessible and safe homes for every resident in Pittsburgh. This $50 million revitalization grant for the Hill District and Bedford Dwellings aligns perfectly with his vision of empowering communities and enhancing living conditions for all.
