Grant from Wells Fargo Builds Program Bolsters Habitat for Humanity of York County’s Mission

Wells Fargo Foundation has recently bestowed a grant of $75,000 upon Habitat for Humanity of York County to support housing initiatives in Rock Hill, South Carolina. The allocated funds will be utilized to repair two existing homes and construct two new houses, providing affordable and safe housing options for deserving families.

Habitat for Humanity of York County is among the numerous Habitat for Humanity affiliates across the nation that have been honored with grant money in 2023 through the esteemed Wells Fargo Builds program. This program aims to empower low-to-moderate-income families by facilitating access to affordable homeownership and housing opportunities.

Rod Banks, Lead Community Impact and Sustainability Specialist emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in bringing about positive change. “Collaborating with communities to create positive change is at the core of what we do,” Banks stated in a press release. “We are proud of our continuing work with Habitat for Humanity of York County to increase access to housing for individuals historically shut out of the market.”

Volunteers from Wells Fargo have been actively participating alongside Habitat for Humanity of York County in assisting the Brito and Willis families with the construction of their new homes. Additionally, more volunteers will be involved in home repair projects and community beautification initiatives throughout Rock Hill.

The Wells Fargo Builds program for 2023 has generously contributed $7.5 million to Habitat for Humanity International. This substantial contribution will significantly impact the construction and renovation of over 350 affordable homes across the United States, addressing the critical need for housing security.

Since its establishment in 1988, Habitat for Humanity of York County has made a remarkable difference in the lives of numerous families. Through new construction projects and home repairs, they have assisted over 300 families, enabling them to achieve homeownership and enhance their quality of life.
