Homeowners in Morristown Can Now Apply for $24K Grants for Affordable Housing Repairs

In an effort to promote the well-being of its residents and ensure the longevity of homes, the town of Morristown has launched an innovative partnership with the Community Grants, Planning, and Housing (CGP&H) development company. This initiative aims to provide essential repair services to low- and moderate-income homeowners, offering them up to $24,000 in assistance.

The Home Improvement Program, as the initiative is known, is now open for pre-applications from Morristown residents. This program targets homeowners whose gross annual income does not exceed specific thresholds, which are determined based on the size of the household. The income limits are as follows:

  • For a single occupant, the limit is $69,344.
  • For a two-person household, the limit is $79,251.
  • For a three-person household, the limit is $89,157.
  • For a four-person household, the limit is $99,063.
  • For a five-person household, the limit is $106,988.
  • For a six-person household, the limit is $114,913.
  • For a seven-person household, the limit is $122,838.
  • For an eight-person household, the limit is $130,763.

The funds, which will be provided by CGP&H, come in the form of a 10-year, no-interest forgivable loan. This funding can be used to cover a wide range of home repairs, including but not limited to, roof and window replacements, as well as fixing heating, electrical, and plumbing issues.

A significant advantage of this program is that a professional inspector will oversee the entire process, ensuring that the work is performed to a high standard. Additionally, there is no monthly payment associated with the loan, and applying for the program is free and will not affect residents’ credit scores.

Homeowners interested in benefiting from this program are invited to pre-apply online at www.hip.cgph.net or by calling 609-366-9010.

For those who wish to learn more about the program, CGP&H will be hosting a Zoom information session at 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 15. To attend the session, interested parties should email [email protected] or call 609-366-9010 to request the registration link. However, attendance at this session is not a prerequisite for pre-application submission.

Since its establishment in 1993, CGP&H has played a crucial role in the rehabilitation of over 2,500 homes across New Jersey and Pennsylvania, as stated on the company’s website.

The coverage of this initiative is part of the ongoing reporting on Morris and Sussex counties by local reporter Kyle Morel.
