New Home Improvement Grant Program Launched by Menifee City in California
The City of Menifee in California has recently announced the launch of the Single Family Home Improvement (SFHI) grant, which is part of the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). The SFHI grant is designed to help low-income homeowners up to the age of 61 with rehabilitation costs for their single-family or mobile homes. With a maximum grant amount of $15,000, eligible homeowners can use the funds to make necessary repairs in accordance with the City’s program guidelines.
The SFHI grant is aimed at supporting home improvements that enhance the health and safety of the occupants. Priority is given to repairs that address structural deficiencies, such as roofing replacement, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC system repairs, as well as other critical health and safety issues.
To be eligible for the SFHI grant, the home must be within Menifee’s city limits and owner-occupied. The applicant must also be current on their mortgage, property taxes, and local income taxes. The grant is available to low-income homeowners up to the age of 61, which means that anyone in need can benefit from the program.
Cheryl Kitzerow, the Community Development Director of Menifee, expressed her excitement about the grant, stating that it provides a great opportunity for those in need to make meaningful home improvements that might otherwise be out of reach. She further added, “Helping local homeowners ensure their homes are safe and in good repair strengthens our overall community.”
To apply for the SFHI grant, qualified residents are advised to contact Celia Olivas at 951-723-1750 or via email at [email protected]. Applicants must undergo pre-eligibility determination before they can start the application process. It is important to note that the SFHI grant will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
The SFHI grant program is expected to have a significant impact on the community, as it provides an opportunity for eligible homeowners to make necessary repairs that they may have been unable to afford otherwise. By improving the quality and safety of homes in Menifee, the program is expected to contribute to the overall well-being of the community.

This looks like there are select cities and Bakersfield does not appear to be one of them. I went ahead and set an alert to scan that site every day until it does appear on there so if and when it does I will email at the email you provided.
