Urgent Notice: Deadline for RESTORE Louisiana Homeowner Assistance Survey Nears!

Homeowners in Lake Charles and surrounding areas, take note! The deadline for the RESTORE Louisiana Homeowner Assistance Program Survey is Tuesday, Aug. 1. This gives you a little over two weeks to access the much-needed assistance provided by this program. If you are a low-to-moderate income homeowner who was affected by Hurricanes Laura, Delta, Ida, and the May 2021 storms, as well as other federally declared disasters in 2020 and 2021, this survey could be your first step towards determining your eligibility for RESTORE assistance.

The city of Lake Charles is committed to keeping its residents informed and updated. To that end, they will be hosting a Restore Louisiana Homeowner Assistance update on Monday, July 17, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The event will take place at the MLK Center, located at 2009 Simmons St. Make sure to mark your calendars and attend this crucial meeting to learn more about the program and how it can help you.

Lake Charles Mayor Nic Hunter emphasized the importance of this initiative, particularly for homeowners in dire need of assistance. He highlighted that RESTORE Louisiana is the most effective avenue to access federal assistance for individual homeowners seeking to repair and rebuild their homes. Millions of dollars in supplemental disaster recovery aid have been allocated to the State of Louisiana, with the primary goal of helping residents re-establish themselves in safe housing.

It’s worth noting that recent changes in program eligibility have opened up opportunities for homeowners who were previously deemed ineligible. If you thought you didn’t qualify before, you might now be eligible for much-needed assistance. Even if you paid out of pocket for home repairs, you could still be eligible for reimbursement through this program. Don’t miss out on this chance to seek the help you deserve.

The upcoming meeting will be attended by members of the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury, city officials, and state representatives. These representatives will provide you with vital information on how to complete the survey and submit your RESTORE applications. It’s an opportunity to get your questions answered and receive guidance on the application process.

To access the survey, visit www.restore.la.gov/survey. To complete it, you will need to provide your FEMA Registration Number Hazard/Flood Insurance Provider, and Policy Number. Don’t worry; the process is straightforward, and you’ll have the support you need to fill it out correctly.

Remember, this meeting is free and open to the public. Don’t hesitate to bring your friends, family, and neighbors who might also benefit from this program. The more people we can reach, the better we can rebuild our community and bounce back stronger than ever.
