The 4th Stimulus Check 2022: Check If You Are Eligible

Stimulus Checks

Maine residents can get a stimulus check of $850.00 from the government if they are eligible. If approved, this check will be available this month. Democratic Governor Janet Mills passed a $1.2 billion budget that includes funds for these checks among other plans. These funds are covered by the American Rescue plan of 2021 which provided every state with money for programs that help residents impacted by Covid-19. The Legislature agreed to the Governor’s request, and $850.00 checks will be mailed to an estimated 858,000 Mainers, totaling $729.3 million in taxpayer money. These checks can be used to help residents with increased costs as a result of the current inflation, which will directly benefit the Maine economy.

“We want to make sure that every eligible person is able to receive this assistance, and we are hopeful that this website can help accomplish that by answering some of the most common questions Maine people may have,” said Governor Janet Mills.”What this budget shows once again through hard work and good faith negotiation Democrats, Republicans and independents can come together to do what is right for Maine people. And that we can do so without rancor or bitter partisanship that has sometimes divided Augusta in the past.”

 Who is eligible for these stimulus checks?

Individuals must file a 2021 Maine individual income tax return (even though the deadline has passed) as a full-time Maine resident before October 31, 2022, to be eligible.

The Federal adjusted gross income (FAGI) must be:

  • $100,000.00 if filing single or if married and filing separately;
  • $150,000.00 if filing as head of household;
  • $200,000.00 for couples filing jointly.

People who receive social security and/or supplemental security income (SSI) are also eligible for these funds. If two persons file jointly and their tax returns fulfill the relief payment conditions, each will receive an $850.00 relief check, for a total of $1,700.00 in relief.
