Through their Homeowner Assistance Fund, the Center for Siouxland is able to provide up to $25,000 in financial assistance with mortgage payments and other property expenses to those who meet eligibility requirements.

According to Veronica Faber, a certified Housing Counselor at the Center for Siouxland, this program is specifically designed to assist individuals who have been adversely affected by COVID-19. Many people have lost their jobs, fallen ill, or experienced other unexpected setbacks during the pandemic, leading to financial difficulties that can quickly become overwhelming. Even a few missed mortgage payments can be difficult to recover from, and the situation can become even more dire the longer it goes on.

Fortunately, the Homeowner Assistance Fund provides a way for homeowners to get back on track and avoid foreclosure. By providing financial assistance for mortgage payments and other related expenses, the program aims to help people keep their homes and maintain their financial stability.

Since the program’s inception, the Center for Siouxland has helped more than 50 people apply for the Homeowner Assistance Fund, providing much-needed support during a difficult time. Across the state of Iowa, over 1,000 people have applied for the fund, demonstrating the great need for this kind of support.
