Indiana Homeowner Assistance Fund Launched to Help Homeowners

The Indiana Homeowner Assistance Fund (IHAF) is a program that provides financial support to eligible Hoosiers who have experienced hardship due to income loss, particularly as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The IHAF is administered by the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA), which has disbursed over $40 million in assistance to more than 3,500 eligible applicants to date. The program offers aid to homeowners who meet certain criteria, including owning only one mortgaged home, having a primary residence, and meeting certain income requirements.

To be eligible for assistance, homeowners must meet the following requirements: They must have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and experienced a financial hardship on or after January 21, 2020; they must own only one mortgaged home, which must be their primary residence; they must have an income equal to or less than 150% of the Area Median Income adjusted for household size, or 100% of the National Median Income, whichever is greater; and they must live in Indiana.
