Free Roof Replacement Grants

Get help paying for roof repairs or replacement through government grants and nonprofit programs.

Roof Replacement Grant Programs

A leaking or damaged roof is a serious health and safety hazard. Fortunately, several government programs provide free roof replacement grants for qualifying homeowners who cannot afford these costly repairs.

The most common programs include USDA Section 504 Home Repair Grants (up to $10,000 for seniors 62+ in rural areas), Weatherization Assistance Program (covers roof repairs related to energy efficiency), and state/local programs funded through Community Development Block Grants.

Additionally, many states offer specialized roof repair programs, especially in areas prone to hurricanes, hail, or severe weather. For example, Florida offers the My Safe Florida Home program, South Carolina has Safe Home, and Louisiana provides roofing retrofitting grants.
