North Carolina Homeowner Assistance Fund (HAF)
Emergency financial assistance for North Carolina homeowners struggling with mortgage payments, property taxes, and housing expenses due to COVID-19 hardship.
About North Carolina's HAF Program
North Carolina received $372 million in federal Homeowner Assistance Fund (HAF) allocation to help homeowners who experienced financial hardship after January 21, 2020. The program is designed to prevent mortgage delinquencies, defaults, foreclosures, and displacement of homeowners experiencing financial hardship.
NC's HAF program provides direct financial assistance to eligible homeowners to help them catch up on past-due mortgage payments, property taxes, homeowners insurance, homeowners association fees, and utilities. This critical support helps North Carolina families stay in their homes and avoid foreclosure.
Administered by the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency (NCHFA), the program prioritizes assistance to socially disadvantaged individuals and those earning less than 100% of Area Median Income, ensuring that help reaches the families who need it most throughout the state.
