Bloomington Homeowners Can Get Rebates Up to $10,000 for Solar and Energy Upgrades
Bloomington, Indiana homeowners can now apply for the 2026 Bloomington Green Home Improvement Program.
The program gives rebates to homeowners who make clean energy or energy-saving upgrades. Covered projects include solar panels, battery storage, Level 2 EV chargers, heat pumps, efficient heating and cooling systems, energy-saving doors and windows, and attic insulation.
How much money can homeowners get?
The rebate amount depends on your income and the type of project.
- Most homeowners can get back 25% of the project cost, up to the program limit for that project.
- Low-income homeowners can get back 40% of the project cost, up to the program limit.
- Low-income households may get up to $10,000 for solar panels.
Who can apply?
To qualify, you must own and live in a home inside Bloomington city limits.
The city says rebates are first-come, first-served. Homeowners should apply before starting work when possible, so they know money is still available.
What do you need to apply?
You will need a project quote from a contractor. Projects already finished in 2026 may also qualify. If approved, homeowners are paid back after sending the city a completed invoice.
Other help may be available
Bloomington homeowners may also be able to stack this rebate with other programs. Duke Energy offers some energy-efficiency rebates. Indiana also has Energy Saver rebates, and some low-income households may qualify for help covering 100% of certain project costs.

Homeowners can apply through the City of Bloomington Green Home Improvement Program page. Because funds are first-come, first-served, applying early is the safest move.
