Brooklyn Michigan Opens Home Repair Grants Up to $25,000

Brooklyn Village, Michigan has opened a new Homeowner Rehabilitation Program for income-qualified residents. The program is backed by $400,000 in federal funds through the Michigan State Housing Development Authority.

Eligible homeowners may receive help worth $1,500 to $25,000. Program organizers expect the funding to repair about 16 to 40 homes.

The program covers critical home repairs that protect the structure of the home and the health of the people living there.

Covered repairs may include general repairs, plumbing, electrical work, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, roofing, and mold remediation.

The program is for homeowners of single-family homes inside Brooklyn Village. Applicants must meet the income rules, which are based on 80% of area median income.

Work is done at no cost to approved homeowners. Program organizers will work directly with local contractors to complete the repairs.
