California CalAssist Mortgage Fund: Up to $100,000 in Mortgage Help for Fire Survivors

Program name: CalAssist Mortgage Fund (CalHFA)
This program can help pay your mortgage if your home was badly damaged or destroyed in a qualifying California disaster.
Amount: Up to $100,000 (up to 12 months of mortgage help). Money is paid to your mortgage servicer, not as cash in hand.
Who qualifies (high level):
- You are a homeowner and your home was severely damaged or destroyed.
- The disaster must be covered by a Governor state-of-emergency proclamation or a President major disaster declaration.
- The declaration date must be between Jan 1, 2023 and Jan 8, 2025 (per program updates).
- Your household income must be under your county limit (example reported: up to $281,400 in Los Angeles County; up to $360,000 in Orange County).
How to apply:
- Gather your mortgage info and documents that show your disaster damage.
- Read the eligibility rules and apply through CalHFA’s CalAssist program page.
Deadline: Not stated in the announcement. Apply as soon as you can (program funds are limited).
