California homeowners affected by recent disasters, including the 2025 LA firestorms, can apply for expanded CalAssist Mortgage Relief.

The Governor’s office says the expanded program can provide a full year of mortgage payments, up to $100,000, and the assistance does not have to be repaid.

How much help is available?

Eligible homeowners can receive up to 12 months of mortgage payments, capped at $100,000.

Who is this for?

The program is aimed at disaster survivors who need help staying current on mortgage payments while recovering and rebuilding. California’s May update said more than 1,100 disaster survivors had already signed up after the expansion.

How to apply

CalHFA says applying is free and completed online through the CalAssist Mortgage Fund. Funds are limited, so homeowners should apply while assistance is available.
