California homeowners can get $5,000 to $15,000 to rebuild with electric systems

If your home was damaged or destroyed in a natural disaster, California has a program that can help. The program is called RISE (Rebuilding Incentives for Sustainable Electric Homes). It pays property owners to install all-electric systems while rebuilding.

How much money you can get

  • $5,000 to $15,000 per home
  • Paid by check after construction is complete
  • Program says payment usually arrives in 2 to 3 months

Who can apply

  • You are a California homeowner or builder rebuilding a home after a disaster
  • Your home plans were approved after Nov. 4, 2021
  • The home was lost or damaged in a disaster that happened in 2017 or later
  • You are served by one of the eligible California utility companies

What upgrades are required

You must rebuild with all-electric equipment, such as:

  • Induction range or cooktop with electric oven
  • Electric clothes dryer
  • Electric water heater
  • Electric heating system

How to apply

  1. Check your eligibility at the program website
  2. Submit your project details and utility information
  3. Finish construction with required electric equipment
  4. Request your incentive payment
