Colorado Homeowners Can Stack Heat Pump Rebates Worth Thousands
Colorado homeowners who install heat pumps may be able to cut a large part of the cost by stacking rebates. CBS Colorado reported that current heat pump rebates can often range from $6,000 to $12,000, depending on the size of the system and the rebates used.
Power Ahead Colorado is also expected to launch a new $1,500 rebate this summer. The program is administered by the Denver Regional Council of Governments.
Who may qualify?
- Colorado residents replacing or upgrading home heating and cooling equipment.
- Homeowners who install an eligible heat pump system.
- Some rebates may depend on utility service area, equipment type, income, or contractor requirements.
How much money is available?
- Stacked heat pump rebates may average around $10,000.
- Reported rebate ranges are about $6,000 to $12,000.
- Power Ahead Colorado plans to add a $1,500 rebate this summer.
What can the money cover?
The rebates are for heat pump systems that provide heating and cooling. A heat pump can replace or reduce the need for older air conditioning, swamp coolers, or traditional heating systems.
How to apply
Homeowners should check current rebates through their utility, such as Xcel Energy, and watch Power Ahead Colorado for the new application window. Before signing a contract, ask the installer which rebates can be stacked and whether the equipment meets program rules.
Deadline or window
Some rebates are already available through utilities. Power Ahead Colorado says its new rebate applications are expected to open in summer 2026.
