Delaware Housing Authority to Disburse Remaining Federal Funds for Homeowners and Homebuyers

In response to the ongoing challenges posed by the COVID-19 public health emergency, the Delaware State Housing Authority (DSHA) has introduced three temporary programs aimed at addressing obstacles to achieving and sustaining homeownership for affected populations.

The Delaware Mortgage Relief Program (DEMRP), Delaware Diamonds Home Loan, and Home Sweet Home Program are now approaching the end of their allocated funding. Delaware residents are urged to submit applications promptly or explore alternative assistance programs offered by DSHA.

DEMRP offers financial support of up to $50,000 for housing-related delinquencies, covering areas such as mortgage, property tax, homeowners association, and homeowner insurance payments. Additionally, the program provides up to $20,000 for critical home repairs, including but not limited to mold and mildew remediation, lead-based paint removal, roof replacement, heating, cooling, electrical, and plumbing repairs. Accessibility enhancements such as hand railings, ramps, grab bars, and wider doorways are also eligible for support.

Anticipated to deplete its funds by early 2024, if not sooner, DEMRP is facing limited availability. Homeowners are strongly encouraged to apply for assistance promptly to secure their chance at this valuable support. The application for the DEMRP Program can be accessed through the following link: DEMRP Application Portal. Act swiftly to take advantage of this opportunity as the funds are finite, and applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
