Douglas County Home Repair Help Is Expected to Open Later in 2026

Low-income homeowners in Douglas County, Oregon may soon be able to get help with major home repairs. A new $400,000 federal Community Development Block Grant will fund repairs through NeighborWorks Umpqua.

The program is expected to help about 17 to 23 households. Eligible homeowners may receive up to $20,000 in repairs, depending on the needs found during the home assessment.

What the Grant Can Pay For

This is not for cosmetic upgrades. The money is meant for repairs that affect health, safety, or accessibility.

  • Roof repairs or replacement
  • Door or window replacement
  • Accessibility changes, such as replacing a bathtub with a walk-in shower
  • Other safety repairs approved after a home assessment

Who May Qualify

The program is for homeowners in Douglas County who earn 80% or less of the area median income. The program often serves seniors, veterans, people with disabilities, and rural homeowners who need critical repairs.
