Emporia wants eligible homeowners to apply for possible repair grants
The City of Emporia, Kansas, is encouraging homeowners to apply for home repair grants if they qualify. The city is collecting applications while it seeks funding for the overall project.
Repairs that may qualify
The grants are meant for essential repairs that improve safety, livability, and energy efficiency. Examples include:
- Gutters
- Roofing
- Heating systems
- Electrical systems
- Windows
- Plumbing
- Insulation
Basic eligibility rules
- The applicant must be the deeded owner and occupant of the home
- The property must be inside Emporia city limits
- The home must be on a permanent foundation
- The home must need eligible repairs
Income limits
- Households with four or fewer residents: $42,050
- Households with five to eight residents: $55,550
The city said priority may go to elderly residents, people with disabilities, and homes with three or more bedrooms.

Note: Final awards depend on whether the city receives grant funding.
