
Veterans in Five States Can Get Up to $25,000 Through the HAVEN Housing Grant
The Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas has committed $1 million to its 2026 Housing Assistance for Veterans program, also called HAVEN.
HAVEN can provide up to $25,000 per household for eligible veterans, service members, and Gold Star Families. The next 2026 funding round is expected to open on July 1, 2026 with $500,000 available.
Who may qualify?
The program is for households with an occupant who has a service-related disability, or for Gold Star Families. The home must be in the FHLB Dallas district:
- Arkansas
- Louisiana
- Mississippi
- New Mexico
- Texas
Household income must generally be at or below 165% of the area median income.
What can the money be used for?
- Home repairs or modifications
- Accessibility changes like ramps, grab bars, wider doors, or lowered counters
- Some non-disability related repairs to a primary residence
- New construction costs for an adapted home
- Down payment or closing cost help for eligible first-time homebuyers
How to apply
Consumers do not apply directly to FHLB Dallas. HAVEN grants are offered through participating FHLB Dallas member financial institutions.
To get started, contact an FHLB Dallas member bank or mortgage lender and ask about the HAVEN program. Funds are first-come, first-served and may run out quickly.
