
Guilford County Homeowners Can Apply for Property Tax Grants
Guilford County, North Carolina is accepting applications for a one-time grant program for low-income homeowners. The money is meant to help with higher county property tax bills.
The grant is paid directly to the homeowner. The award is based on the increase between the homeowner's 2021 county property tax bill and the 2025 bill. The minimum grant is $50.
Who Can Apply
To qualify, the home must be your main home and it must be in Guilford County. You must have owned the home for five straight years and you must be the person who paid the property taxes.
The home's total property tax value must be $250,000 or less for the 2025 tax year. The home cannot have outstanding county liens, assessments, or delinquent taxes. Applicants also must meet the program's income limits, which are set at 80% of area median income.
Application Window
Homeowners age 65 and older can apply from July 15 through Aug. 15, 2026. All other eligible homeowners can apply from Aug. 16 through Oct. 31, 2026.
Funds are first come, first served. Complete applications will be funded in the order they are received until the money runs out.
How to Apply
Online applications are available through GuilfordCountyNC.gov. Paper applications are available at the Department of Social Services offices in Greensboro and High Point.
