Hawaii Energy Rebates Offer Up to $2,750 for Home Upgrades

Hawaii Energy has opened its 2026-2027 rebate program for homes. The program helps residents pay for appliances and equipment that use less electricity.

The rebates are first come, first served. They are available until June 30, 2027, or until the money runs out.

How Much Homeowners Can Get

Residential rebates include:

  • Up to $2,750 for a solar water heater.
  • Up to $700 for a heat pump water heater.
  • Up to $550 per unit for a mini split AC system.
  • $1,250 for a central AC retrofit.
  • $250 for trading in an old working refrigerator for an ENERGY STAR refrigerator.
  • $75 for refrigerator recycling with free haul away.
  • Up to $325 for solar water heater or heat pump water heater tune-ups.

Who Can Apply

The program is open to residential electric utility ratepayers on Oahu, Hawaii Island, Maui, Molokai, and Lanai. Kauai residents are not eligible through Hawaii Energy because Kauai is served by a different utility.

Some low-income residents and people in remote areas may qualify for extra discounts.

How to Apply

Homeowners should review the rebate list on the Hawaii Energy website before buying equipment. Some rebates are instant rebates through participating contractors or retailers. Others require a rebate form after the work or purchase is complete.

Because funding is limited, homeowners should confirm the rules before starting a project.
