Iowa service members and veterans can use the Military Homeownership Assistance Program to help buy a qualifying home.

The Iowa Finance Authority says the program provides a $5,000 grant for down payments and closing costs.

Who can qualify?

Eligible applicants include qualifying service members, veterans, certain injured service members, and surviving spouses. The home must be located in Iowa and purchased by the eligible service member.

The program is limited to available funding and requires approval before closing on a qualified home.

How to use the grant

The grant can be used with Iowa’s FirstHome and Homes for Iowans programs. Applicants generally need to work with an Iowa Finance Authority participating or facilitating lender.
