Iowa has activated the Iowa Individual Disaster Assistance Grant Program for households affected by severe weather in counties covered by active state disaster proclamations.

How much help is available?

Qualifying households may receive up to $7,000 for eligible disaster-related needs. The state lists eligible categories including temporary housing, food assistance, personal property, and home repair.

Who may qualify?

  • The household must be in a county covered by an active Iowa disaster proclamation.
  • Annual household income must be at or below 200% of the federal poverty level.
  • The damaged home must be the household’s primary and occupied residence.
  • The need must be disaster-related and not fully covered by insurance or another assistance program.

Current severe-weather proclamation

Governor Kim Reynolds’ June 12, 2026 proclamation covered Adams, Dubuque, Madison, Mills, Montgomery, Page, Pottawattamie, Ringgold, Taylor, Union, and Wapello Counties for severe weather beginning June 5, 2026. Iowa Homeland Security says applicants generally have 45 days from the governor’s proclamation to apply, and residents should check the state’s active-proclamation deadlines before applying.

How to apply

Use Iowa’s official disaster recovery application page for IIAGP. Iowa Homeland Security also lists a downloadable PDF option that can be emailed to IndividualDisasterAssistance@iowa.gov or mailed to the program address listed by the state.
