Liberty Mutual Foundation Awards $75K to Rebuild Dorchester and Mattapan Homes
The Liberty Mutual Foundation has awarded Rebuilding Together Boston a total of $75,000 in grants to support home rebuilding and community revitalization efforts across Dorchester and Mattapan, Massachusetts. The funding, announced on November 15, 2023, will help local homeowners and nonprofit community centers address critical home repair needs in two neighborhoods long underserved by traditional housing investment.
Grant Breakdown
The $75,000 in total funding is split between two neighborhoods and spans multiple fiscal years:
- $40,000 for Dorchester, MA — covering FY24 and FY25
- $35,000 for Mattapan, MA — covering FY23 and FY24
The grants are awarded through the Liberty Mutual Foundation's Housing Stability, Youth and Young Adult Workforce Development program, which focuses on helping families stay safely in their homes while building economic opportunity in the surrounding community.
How the Funds Are Being Used
Rebuilding Together Boston has already put a portion of the funding to work. Completed projects include a full revitalization of the Gallivan Community Center and health and safety repairs to three homes in Mattapan.
Additional projects are planned for Dorchester, including repairs to the home of a young adult with learning disabilities so that he can live independently while remaining under his mother's care. The nonprofit is also continuing work on home repairs and community space revitalization throughout both neighborhoods.
