Louisiana Homeowners Can Enter Lottery for $10,000 Fortified Roof Grants

Louisiana opened a new lottery for the Louisiana Fortify Homes Program. The program helps homeowners upgrade roofs so they can better handle hurricane-force winds.

How much money is available?

Selected homeowners can get up to $10,000 toward a fortified roof upgrade. The grant is paid directly to approved contractors.

Who may qualify?

• You must own and live in the home as your primary residence.
• The home must be in one of the eligible coastal parishes.
• You must have active homeowners insurance with wind coverage.
• If the home is in a Special Flood Hazard Area, you must also have flood insurance.
• New homes, condos, mobile homes, and rental properties are not eligible.

How to apply

Register through the Louisiana Fortify Homes Program lottery. Do not start roof work or hire a contractor before you are approved.

Deadline or window

The lottery opened June 1 and closes June 19 at 5 p.m.
